SD Tabletwear Frameless Case for Google Nexus 7 2013 Review

Updated on Dec 29, 2013 by Tuan Do

I used the Google Nexus 7 2013 for a couple of months and I didn’t use it with any protective case because I just couldn’t find a good one. I tried the official Asus travel case before but it sucked and I threw it away without any hesitation.

When I received the SD Tabletwear Frameless Case from Mobilefun, I was very confident because this case is similar to the one I used on my original Nexus 7. Read on for my review of the case.

Overview Video

Design

This is my favorite Nexus 7 case so far because it looks great, it doesn’t add bulk and also offer good protection for the tablet. Take a look at some more images of the case being applied on my Nexus 7.

The outer surface of the case is made of faux leather but it still feels like real leather. The case I received is the blue one and it fits the black Nexus perfectly. There are also cutouts for all ports and features of the device, like the mini-USB, headphone, microphone, power, volume rocker and rear camera. There are also holes for speakers on the back, so you can still enjoy the dual stereo speakers.

The case is padded well enough to protect my tablet. Even when the front cover is open and you drop it, the screen will still be protected thanks to raised parts on edges. The front cover is very helpful because you also can use it as a viewing stand. Turn your tablet to landscape mode, clip out the bottom of the tablet and prop it up at different angles.

Although the front cover could be too stiff to open, it will be loose out and I have no problem opening the case after a few days. The good thing is that the tablet is still hold firmly.

Another important feature of the case is the magnetic on/off functionality. That means when you open the front cover, the tablet will automatically turn on and when you close it, the screen will turn off to save battery. This is a very useful feature that many other case manufacturers forgot.

Overall, this is the best case for Nexus 7 2013 I’ve ever tried and I am using it on my device. It is available on MobileFun for around $32, you can check out Nexus 7 cases on their website.

The case looks old but the inner part of the case is really wonderful and I still like the case very much.

    Thanks for the review

      Hi Aquila,
I’m still using the case till now. It has a rough leather texture, it doesn’t look good but it is quite durable.
