New clone to WhatsApp Messenger: Telegram

Updated on Feb 27, 2014 by Guest Authors

WhatsApp is one of the best instant messaging service available at cross platform and looking into its success many apps of similar nature showed up but none of them was available to compete the app’s huge fan following.

Though Apps such as WeChat and Line were able to show themselves as they are unique and different in one way or the other but if you happen to have an application which shares almost same interface and features as the original WhatsApp has. Will you use that app? Let’s have a look at the same.

Features

Users are always concerned about what features they get in any application which helps them to decide whether the new app is worth to download. When you first launch the application what you see that the interface is exactly copy of WhatsApp, only changes you see is change of colour.

You can send any user a video, photo, location and message of course. Only upgrade is that you can even send documents in this application which I personally think is great feature to have. Otherwise we have to send a mail or use cloud storage services to do that.

Click on the picture of your added contact and you see bunch of information in a little bit different manner as compared to native WhatsApp application. There you can see the mobile number with which the contact is linked, you can change the sound, turn the notification on/off, see shared media and even start a secret chat.

What different from WhatsApp:

Even though Telegram is a proper clone of WhatsApp but still there are many features which makes it a little bit different. Introduction of ability to send documents is a plus point then providing the ability to have a secret chat is awesome feature. In secret chat you get end to end encryption, no traces of your conversation are stored in the app’s servers and self-destruct timer. Basically Telegram integrates the positive features of SnapChat. You can create group which can have up to 200 members which is also a required feature.

Settings

In settings, you can enable/disable Animations, alter the sizes of the messages, and change background wallpaper with your own custom one or with backgrounds present already in the application.

Other than that you get the entire usual features we see in WhatsApp or in any other instant messaging service.

Rating:

Personally I have seen that a lot people from my contact list have already installed the application and they are trying to use it. I have also enjoyed using this application and I didn’t felt any lag in between. I see a bright future for this app. keeping all the points in mind I will rate this application 4 star.

You can download this application from the link below. It is available in Android and iOS right now and hopefully we will see it on all other Operating Systems.
