By Guest Authors

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is going neck to neck against the iPhone 5 in terms of features and specifications. If you are looking for a high end Smartphone with the finest and the best specs to enjoy, these two Smartphones are the best contenders.

The S4 carries the flagship of Samsung Smartphones with the ability to compete against the Apple’s iPhone 5 supremacy in the mobile industry. For years, Apple dominated the mobile market with its iPhone generation mobiles taking the top seat for the best high end phone sales, until Samsung unveils its Galaxy S4.

The mobile market analysts predict that the GS4 is the iPhone 5’s biggest competitor and will likely surpass the Apple’s sale in the next two years. So what makes the Galaxy S4 the biggest contender against the iPhone 5? Here are the best features from these two superior Smartphones in the market today.

Display specifications

The Korean manufacturer designed their flagship carrier Galaxy S4 about 1 inch wider than the iPhone 5. While Apple retains its traditional LED-backlit touchscreen and 4 inch wide display, the Galaxy S4 is designed with a 5 inch wide display that comes with the 1080 x 1920 resolution and 440 PPI in contrast to iPhone 5’s 640 x 1136 pixels on 326 PPI. Samsung also used the Pentile Super AMOLED technology that is protected with a Corning Gorilla Glass 2 making another advantage feature over the iPhone 5 display feature.

Speed Rating

The Samsung Galaxy S4 received a benchmark test rating of 3,163 while the iPhone 5 only 1,596, indicating that the former runs twice as faster than the latter. The benchmarking test is performed using a software that tests the speed of a mobile software and assigns a numerical value for its performance rating. The higher the rating, the better is the mobile phone’s speed performance.

Color Design

In terms of color, the iPhone 5 is only available in two colors: black and white while the S4 offers mobile users more color choices in gray, red, blue, black and white. Apple retained the serious and business like design of their Smartphone which is highly appealing among the executives but Samsung is a winner when one prefers to have a variety of colors to choose from.

Camera features

The Samsung S4 offers an enticing camera feature called the Dual Shot mode where you can simultaneously capture a video and still image using its front and rear cameras. You can take a shot to take a primary picture using one camera while taking another picture using the other camera and then insert that photo to the primary picture. The front facing camera comes with 2 megapixels while the rear facing camera with 13 megapixel. You can also record a sound that lasts for 9 seconds while taking photos using its Sounds and Shots feature. It also comes with the Eye Scroll that prevents the screen from dimming when the device detects the head facing on the screen making it ready for reading. The Eraser mode allows the user to remove images when taking a shot.

The iPhone 5 camera features retained its superior high definition with optimized clarity for shooting video and taking photos. Its iSight camera comes with 40% faster image capture while taking Panorama images. It also has an improved HDR capability that will give captured images with better tone.

Software capabilities

The Galaxy S4 is powered by the Key Lime Pie which is Android’s latest software on Jelly Bean 4.2. This gives a complete revamp on the device where it gives the device a Customization Center where you can perform different tasks according to your own customization preferences. You can also have the liberty of customizing the device’s layout and its appearance using the Template feature powered by the 4.2. Jelly Bean with the added possibility of being able to apply the kind of filter available in Instagram. Apple on the other hand gave a software update to its iPhone 5 with its iO6 that offers 200 new features for iPhone users to enjoy. The newly added “do not disturb” feature is another addition together with the Apple Maps navigation support, more intelligent Siri, Passbook feature where you can store your cards and tickets and the Panorama mode for its camera.

Hardware

The Galaxy S4 takes another advantage feature over the iPhone 5 because it comes with Quadcore 2 GHz processor as opposed to the 1.2 dual core processor for the iPhone. Both are equally endowed with a 2GB RAM memory.
