GLACIER FRESH C03 Coolon Countertop Cold Water Purifier Review

By Tuan Do

I’ve tested quite a few countertop water purifiers over the years. Some offered impressive filtration, while others focused on convenience and portability. After using the GLACIER FRESH C03 Coolon Countertop Cold Water Purifier for nearly a month, I can confidently say that this is the best countertop water purifier I’ve reviewed so far.

Disclosure: We received the water purifier as a courtesy for review purposes. However, the review is intended to provide honest, unbiased insights about the product, based on personal experiences and observations.

Not Another RO Water Purifier

One of the most interesting aspects of the Coolon C03 is its filtration technology. Unlike many modern water purifiers that rely on reverse osmosis (RO), the C03 uses GLACIER FRESH’s Elarisey filtration technology.

Traditional RO systems are highly effective at removing contaminants, but they also remove virtually everything else from the water, including beneficial minerals. Some people prefer this ultra-purified water, but I’ve always felt that it can taste somewhat flat.

The Elarisey system takes a different approach. According to GLACIER FRESH, the filter media carries a positive charge that helps attract and capture harmful contaminants such as PFAS, microplastics, and lead while preserving beneficial minerals like calcium and magnesium. The company even includes a water quality certificate in the box, which adds some confidence.

Unfortunately, I don’t have professional testing equipment to verify the exact water quality myself. However, based on daily use, the water tastes exceptionally clean and fresh. For most households, the combination of contaminant reduction and mineral retention makes a lot of sense. It delivers water that tastes great without stripping everything away.

Large Water Tank

Another feature I really appreciate is the large water tank. The Coolon C03 includes a 152-oz water reservoir, which is significantly larger than many countertop water purifiers I’ve used. Because of this large capacity, I typically only need to refill the tank once per day.

That may not sound like a major advantage, but it makes a noticeable difference in everyday use. Instead of constantly checking water levels or refilling multiple times throughout the day, I can simply fill the tank in the morning and forget about it.

For busy families or anyone who drinks a lot of water throughout the day, this convenience can be a major selling point.

Cold Water On Demand

Another interesting feature is the built-in cold water dispenser. This function isn’t enabled by default. To activate it, you need to press and hold the Cold button. Once activated, the system begins cooling the water.

The cooling process is not instant. In my testing, it took close to 45 minutes for the water to reach its lowest temperature. However, the results were worth the wait.

My water temperature is typically around 82°F during the summer, and the purifier was able to cool the water down to approximately 55°F. While this isn’t ice-cold refrigerator temperature, it is refreshingly cool and makes a huge difference when grabbing a glass of water on a hot day.

I’ve found myself drinking significantly more water simply because it’s more enjoyable. Having chilled, filtered water available directly from the countertop without needing to store pitchers in the refrigerator is very convenient.

The only downside is that the cooling system generates a noticeable humming noise while operating. It’s not excessively loud, but you will hear it in a quiet room.

The Best Dispensing System

Surprisingly, my favorite feature isn’t the filtration system or even the cold-water function. It’s the water dispensing mechanism.

This might seem like a small detail, but anyone who has used multiple countertop water dispensers knows how frustrating dripping can be. With many purifiers I’ve tested, the water continues to drip for a few seconds after dispensing stops. As a result, I often had to keep my cup underneath the nozzle longer than necessary to avoid water spilling onto the countertop.

The GLACIER FRESH C03 completely solves this problem. When I press the dispense button, water flows smoothly. When I press the button again to stop, the water stops immediately. There isn’t a delayed trickle or an extra drip afterward. Not a single drop falls from the dispenser. That level of precision may sound simple, but it dramatically improves the user experience.

Filter Replacement Cost

The replacement filter for the Coolon C03 currently costs around $40, which I find very reasonable. GLACIER FRESH recommends replacing the filter every 6 months or after filtering approximately 200 gallons of water.

Compared to many competing systems that require multiple expensive filters or frequent replacements, the ongoing maintenance cost here feels quite manageable.

Conclusion

The GLACIER FRESH C03 Coolon has exceeded my expectations. If you’re looking for a countertop water purifier that combines excellent filtration, thoughtful design, and low maintenance costs, this is easily among the best options in my opinion.
