OGUARD Sonic Electric Toothbrush Review – Quality At A Reasonable Price

Updated on Mar 14, 2021 by Tuan Do

Sonic electric toothbrushes have become much more affordable in recent years. We no longer have to cash out hundreds of dollars to buy one from Oral-B or Philips. I’ve used some cheap electric toothbrushes for years and I’m quite satisfied with the purchases. The OGUARD sonic electric toothbrush is another decent choice and it is available on Amazon at an amazingly low price.

Disclosure: We received the product for review but we spent time testing it to make sure the review is honest and unbiased.

Features & Performance

At the moment writing this review, the OGUARD toothbrush costs less than $30 on Amazon after applying an on-page coupon. This is a crazy price, considering the fact that the box includes not only the toothbrush body, but also 8 brush heads and a high-quality PU travel case. All the parts have amazing build quality and I can’t imagine how the brand could get profit from selling the bundle.

You will just need to attach a brush head to the toothbrush and it is ready to use. There is a small gap between the head and the body, so you shouldn’t try to push it harder. You should fully charge the toothbrush before first use. There is a USB-C port hidden under a rubber cover on the bottom of the toothbrush. I tried using my own USB-C cable to charge the toothbrush but somehow it didn’t work; That cable works well with my other devices like my phones and iPad Pro. Therefore, I still need to use the USB-C cable included with the toothbrush to recharge it. Another concern is that the rubber flap is not as tight as previously, so it might get damaged if water gets into the port.

Like other electric toothbrushes, the OGUARD has similar features like a 2-minute smart timer and a 30-second pause reminder. It pauses every 30 seconds to remind you to change brushing areas. There is only one button on the body; You can use it to power on/off, switch between cleaning modes, and lock/unlock the toothbrush. When you travel, you can press and hold the button for 5 seconds to lock it and avoid accidental power button press.

The OGUARD has 4 cleaning modes, which are the standard Clean, Smart, Sensitive, and White+. The White+ provides the most powerful brush but the Smart mode is my favorite. In this mode, the toothbrush uses its built-in gyroscope to adjust the vibration direction. Specifically, when you brush the sides of your teeth, the OGUARD will vibrate in vertical direction. Then when you move to brush your tongue or top surface, the toothbrush will automatically change to circular motion. When you want to stop cleaning, you can also shake the toothbrush a few times to power it off.

The OGUARD is powered by a 1,800mAh battery and its standby time is up to 5 months. If you use it twice everyday, it could last about 3 weeks. The manufacturer recommends changing the brush head every 3 months. My only concern is that the replacement heads are not available on Amazon at this time.

All in all, the OGUARD electric toothbrush a decent new choice for consumers. The product has an attractive price point and we don’t have to sacrifice any feature. The included brush heads are enough to use for about 2 years and I hope they will still be available then.
