I’ve used quite a few smartwatches over the years. If you want accurate GPS, military-grade durability, and long battery life, you’ll usually have to spend well over $100. That’s why the new KOSPET ORB2 caught my attention. With a launch price of just $69.99, it promises many of the features found on more expensive outdoor watches while keeping the price low.
The ORB2 is designed for people who enjoy spending time outdoors but don’t necessarily need a premium smartwatch. If you’re hiking, cycling, running, traveling, the rugged watch is an attractive option.
One of the first things I like about the ORB2 is its traditional round design. Personally, I’ve always preferred round smartwatches because they look more like regular watches. The 1.43-inch AMOLED display offers an impressive 466 x 466 resolution, resulting in a very sharp 461 PPI, while its 1,000-nit brightness should make it much easier to read outdoors under direct sunlight. Combined with the zinc-alloy bezel and Corning Gorilla Glass, the watch looks rugged without appearing overly bulky.
Durability is another advantage of the KOSPET. The ORB2 has been tested by SGS across 12 military-grade durability tests and carries both 5 ATM water resistance and an IP69 rating. That combination should allow it to handle rain, sweat, dusty trails, and everyday abuse much better than a typical budget smartwatch. While many affordable wearables look good on paper, it’s reassuring to see KOSPET emphasizing third-party durability testing rather than relying solely on marketing claims.
Perhaps the biggest surprise is the inclusion of dual-band L1+L5 six-system GNSS. Accurate GPS tracking is often one of the first features manufacturers cut to keep costs down, yet KOSPET includes a positioning system designed to improve route recording in cities, wooded trails, and other challenging environments. For runners, hikers, cyclists, or anyone who likes reviewing their routes afterward, this could be one of the ORB2’s strongest selling points.
The outdoor experience goes beyond GPS. The built-in LED flashlight is a feature that sounds simple but can be surprisingly useful during evening walks, camping trips, or unexpected power outages. The watch also includes a compass, weather alerts, sunrise and sunset information, moon phases, and tide data. These aren’t features most people will use every day, but they’re the kind of tools that become genuinely helpful when you’re away from home.
Like most modern smartwatches, the ORB2 also serves as a fitness and wellness companion. It supports more than 170 sports modes and provides continuous monitoring for heart rate, blood oxygen, stress, mood, and sleep. I especially appreciate that KOSPET positions these features as wellness tools rather than medical devices. They are best used to identify long-term trends and encourage healthier habits instead of replacing professional healthcare equipment.
Battery life is another specification that stands out. The ORB2 is rated for up to 16 days of typical use from its 500 mAh battery, along with up to 25 hours of continuous GPS tracking. Those numbers won’t necessarily match every user’s experience, but they suggest you won’t need to worry about charging every couple of days like many mainstream smartwatches. For frequent travelers or weekend campers, that’s a meaningful advantage.
The smartwatch pairs with the Apexmove app, where users can view health data, create training plans, receive hydration and medication reminders, and customize watch faces. Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity rounds out the package with notifications and everyday smartwatch functions, making the ORB2 feel like more than just an outdoor watch.
KOSPET is also launching the PULSE2 alongside the ORB2, and I think offering both models is a smart decision. KOSPET keeps the same core feature set while giving buyers a choice between two form factors. If you’re like me and prefer the classic appearance of a traditional watch, the ORB2 is the obvious pick. On the other hand, users who prioritize seeing more workout data or notifications at a glance may appreciate the PULSE2’s larger 1.96-inch rectangular AMOLED display. It’s nice to have that choice.
Overall, the KOSPET ORB2 looks like one of the more compelling budget rugged smartwatches launching this year. It offers a lot of features at a price that’s difficult to ignore. If it delivers on these promises in real-world use, it could become one of the best values in the entry-level rugged smartwatch category.
