Google Home: Sorry, I Couldn’t Reach Mi Home

By Tuan Do

The Google Assistant’s support for Mi Home devices is a great news for Xiaomi’s users. Now we can control all those devices with our voice by talking to our phone or Google Home speakers.

Previously, Google Assistant supports just a few Xiaomi’s lighting products via the Yeelight app. The update allows us to send voice commands to Xiaomi’s robot vacuums, air purifier, lights, and many more.

You will need to switch to Mainland China server to see a full list of Mi Home devices. Unfortunately, not all of them are supported; So when you make voice commands, you will receive some responses like these:

Sorry, I couldn’t reach Mi Home

I’m sorry, there was an error and I’m unable to control your home device

It looks like Mi Home is unavailable right now

I had those errors when trying to control the Xiaomi Philips ceiling light. Other lights and home appliances work pretty well for me, I could turn them on and off with my voice without any problem. Sometimes, Google Home might respond with those errors but the commands are still executed. This is an early update, so we expect there are still some bugs at the moment. We will need to wait a little more until all Xiaomi Home devices are supported and the issues are resolved.
