DBPOWER T22 Upgraded Portable Projector Review

By Tuan Do

The DBPOWER T22 projector is the upgraded version of the DBPOWER T21 that I reviewed not long ago. Is it better than its predecessor? Let’s find out in the review.

Unboxing Video

Design & Features

The T22 looks different to the T21, however, the control buttons and connectivity ports are almost the same. It also comes with a remote control which is handy when you can’t reach the projector.

On the side, you can find familiar ports like VGA, USB, HDMI, audio, AV, and an SD card slot.

The lens on the front is protected by a lens cap when you don’t use the projector. On top, there are 2 rings for focus adjustment and keystone correction.

The projector has a built-in interface with image and video players but it is pretty simple. Besides, I connect my computer to the projector, so I almost don’t use those functionalities.

The T22 has a lower fan noise and the built-in speaker might be helpful sometimes. The sound quality of the speaker is not good at all, so if you really want to enjoy music or movies, it’s recommended to use an external speaker system.

Image Quality

Image quality is, of course, still the most important thing you should consider when buying a projector. Unfortunately, I couldn’t see a noticeable improvement of the T22 over the T21. The text is still unreadable, except for some large text. This is because the native resolution is still very low at 800 x 480 pixels.

The projector boasts a 2400-lumen lamp and 1000:1 contrast ratio but you will need to use it in a dark room to see everything clearly. The manufacturer said that it can produce a 70% brighter image as compared to other 2400-lumen projectors, however, the image can be easily overexposed when I try to crank up the brightness.

According to the specs sheet, it has a display size of 30 to 176 inches. However, the image would be extremely blurry when you try to project to a screen larger than 80 inches. In my test, the image quality is just acceptable at 40-50 inches.

Conclusion

Pros

  • Low price
  • Portable design
  • Low fan noise

Cons

  • Blurry image

The DBPOWER T22 is a budget portable projector, so we can’t ask much from it. In my opinion, I’d recommend you to save up a little more to buy a higher-quality projector like the BenQ MH530FHD. The image quality of the T22 is too far from the enjoyable level.

Can my Galaxy S5 mobile show through this projector using the USB?
