OxyLED Q508 USB-Powered LED Lamp Review

By Tuan Do

I’ve tested a lot of lighting products lately but most of them require a power outlet, so you won’t be able to use them when there is a power outage or in dark places like cabinets, wardrobe or bookshelves. The OxyLED Q508 might be the solution as it is a USB-powered LED lamp. Let’s check it out.

Unboxing & Testing

Features & Performance

Inside the box, you can find the lamp and two pieces of 3M adhesive tape. The lamp is 40cm or 15.7-inch long. The whole body is made of plastic, so it is very lightweight.

There are 3 ways to install the lamp. You can use the hooks on 2 sides, use the included 3M tapes or just stick it to a metal surface as there is a magnetic strip on the back. The magnets are pretty strong and it can hold the lamp steadily. Then, you can plug the USB cable to any USB-powered source like your phone adapter or a powerbank. My powerbank can power the light for a few hours without any problem.

The biggest issue is that the lamp doesn’t look as clean as you can see on Amazon’s product images. Those images show the lamp with no wire at all, which is quite misleading. You will actually need to find ways to place the powerbank and hide the USB cable to avoid clutter.

There is only one button on the side of the lamp, you can use it to adjust the brightness. There are 3 brightness levels, and the maximum level can output 300 lumens. The color temperature is 5700K which produces a bright white color, it is not warm but not cool either.

The OxyLED Q508 works well but I really hate the cumbersome setup of cable and a powerbank. It would be much better if it had a built-in battery.
