Father’s Day Gift Guide 2026: Perfect Gifts for Tech and DIY Dads

By Tuan Do

Father’s Day can be surprisingly difficult to shop for as most dads already own the basics, and generic gifts probably won’t get much use. As someone who loves technology and spends plenty of weekends tackling DIY projects around the house, I always look for gifts that are practical and genuinely useful.

This year, I’ve put together a list of some of my favorite Father’s Day gift ideas for tech-loving and DIY dads.

MILESEEY XTAPE1 Digital Laser Tape Measure

If I had to pick one DIY gift this year, the MILESEEY XTAPE1 would be at the top of my list. The product combines a traditional tape measure with a laser distance meter, creating a tool that’s incredibly versatile. It features a 12-foot tape measure, a laser rangefinder capable of measuring up to 330 feet, angle measurement capabilities, and Bluetooth connectivity for syncing measurements to a smartphone.

I love how it eliminates the need to carry multiple measuring tools. I can use it to measure a room for new furniture, plan a renovation, or work on a woodworking project. The ability to save measurements digitally is especially useful because I no longer have to rely on scraps of paper that could get lost easily.

MILESEEY S50 Laser Distance Meter

Another excellent gift for DIY dads is the MILESEEY S50. This laser distance meter is more affordable and ideal for larger projects where a standard tape measure becomes inconvenient. It can measure up to 400 ft and the bright green laser is easy to see both indoors and outdoors, and the device can accurately measure long distances in seconds (±1/16 inch accuracy).

I particularly like using laser distance meters for estimating flooring materials, measuring walls for painting projects, and planning backyard improvements. The S50 is compact enough to carry in a pocket but powerful enough to become one of the most frequently used tools in a workshop.

Smart Home Gadgets

For dads who enjoy technology, smart home devices are always a hit. Whether controlling lights, thermostats, cameras, or smart plugs, having a central control system makes everyday life more convenient. Many smart home ecosystems now support voice commands and automation routines, allowing dads to create personalized setups that simplify daily tasks. The Echo Show 11 serves as a smart display, digital photo frame, video calling device, and smart home controller all in one. I especially like using it in the kitchen for checking calendars, weather forecasts, and security camera feeds.

Power Tools

Every DIY dad appreciates quality tools and you can never go wrong with quality power tools. Milwaukee M12 FUEL 12V Brushless Cordless Hammer Drill and Impact Driver Combo Kit remains one of my favorite cordless tool kits. The tools are powerful, reliable, and built to withstand years of heavy use.

Another useful tool is a workshop blower as it helps keep a garage or workshop clean. I use mine constantly after woodworking and home improvement projects.

Smartwatches and Wearables

Wearables make excellent gifts because they combine technology with everyday usefulness.

For iPhone users, the Apple Watch remains one of the most useful gadgets available. It tracks fitness, monitors health metrics, displays notifications, and integrates seamlessly with Apple’s ecosystem.

For dads who prioritize fitness, the Garmin Venu 4 offers excellent battery life and advanced workout tracking. Your dad will also enjoy a brighter AMOLED screen, an LED flashlight, dual-frequency GPS, a metal build, ECG support, and deep training metrics.

Organization and Workshop Upgrades

Some of the best gifts aren’t flashy, they simply make projects easier. The Milwaukee Packout Modular Storage System is probably the best one to organize tools, hardware, batteries, and accessories. It’s durable, customizable, and easy to transport.

For dads running out of garage space, overhead storage racks like the Fleximounts Garage Storage Rack can dramatically increase storage capacity without taking up valuable floor space.

The best Father’s Day gifts are the ones that get used long after the holiday is over. These gifts offer a perfect combination of practicality and fun, so I hope you will find something useful here.
