VANKYO Leisure 410 Portable Projector Review

By Tuan Do

I didn’t expect much from a cheap projector that costs less than $100. However, I still have to admit the VANKYO Leisure 410 is really a good value after testing it for a week.

Design & Features

The VANKYO Leisure 410 comes in a simple cardboard box but I was very surprised when taking it out of the box. It is placed securely inside a fabric carrying case, along with accessories like a remote control, an HDMI cable, a VGA cable, a 3.5mm AV cable, and a power cord.

The Leisure 410 is much more compact than I imagined. Specifically, it measures about 9 x 12 x 4.4 inches, so it is fairly easy to carry around. The carrying case is very inconvenient when you need to store or transport the projector and its accessories.

The projector has all popular connectivity options like HDMI, VGA, TV, AV, Audio-out, USB, and an SD card slot.

Setting up the projector is pretty straightforward as you just need to power it on, adjust focus with the knob on top, and make vertical keystone correction with the small dial on the back. It doesn’t have a sluggish OS like other cheap projectors, so you can connect your device and start watching immediately.

The VANKYO projector is equipped with a built-in speaker but you might need to use an external speaker or headphones if you really want to enjoy the sound.

Picture Quality

Since this is a budget product, you shouldn’t expect much from the picture quality. Even the manufacturer doesn’t recommend using it for showing slideshows. I ran some slides and played some videos in the test below, you can check it out.

In my test, I projected to a screen of just around 50 inches but the image is not clear at all. It looks better at the center but areas near the edges are very blurry. I’d recommend you to project to a screen of 40 inches or lower. The distance from the projector to the screen is around 5.5 ft then.

The projector supports 1080p resolution but the native resolution is just 800 x 480 pixels. That explains why the image is so pixelated. It is not as sharp and smooth as high-end projectors or your TV.

An advantage of the projector is that the image is fairly bright as compared to other 2500-lumen projector. I can still see the image when turning on some lights in my room.

The projector is suitable for watching movies only and of course, picture quality shouldn’t be your priority.
