Samsung officially announced the new generation of their phablet, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. The device starts shipping in September 2017 with a premium price tag of around $900 (the full retail price for the factory-unlocked version).
This is really a great step forward for Samsung, considering the fact that they could have dropped the Note series after the battery-exploding reports last year. Samsung handled the scandal professionally and now we have the all new Galaxy Note 8.
Like previous generations, the Note 8 targets business users as it combines high-end specs, a massive display, productivity suite, and a stylus. If you had to return the Note 7, now you can upgrade to the Note 8 with a lot of important improvements.
The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 or Samsung Exynos 8895 processor, 6GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot, Bixby voice assistant, and 3300mAh battery. The design is also refined with the 6.3-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED Infinity Display, it is not only bigger but also looks much sleeker than other smartphones on the market. This is also the first time we see a dual camera setup on a Samsung phone; both are 12MP lenses and have optical image stabilization. The wide-angle lens has an aperture of f/1.7 and the telephoto lens has a f/2.4 aperture. You will see some camera tricks like Live Focus or Dual Capture.
Similar to previous releases, the Note 8 also comes with some different model numbers which are available for some specific carriers and regions. The model number will decide which processor is built inside, you will either have a Snapdragon 835 or Exynos 8895. Most countries will receive the Exynos version but some other countries requiring the CDMA chip, like the U.S. or China, will have the Snapdragon 835. Both of them have Samsung’s 10nm LPE process and actually has very similar performance that you cannot notice the difference during normal usage.
Now, let’s check out all model numbers of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. All of the numbers start with SM-N950 but the suffixes are different, depending on the market. So, we will have some models like SM-N950W, SM-N9500, SM-N9508, SM-N950F, SM-N950 S/K/L, or SM-N950FD.

The unlocked model SM-N950UZKAXAA does not seem to have all the bands, for example, some bands listed for T-Mobile model are not listed under unlocked: 4G TDD LTE: B38(2600), B39(1900), B40(2300), B41(2500)
Is that accurate? Does that mean unlocked may not have as good a coverage as the carrier phones in certain situations?

I’m not sure this information is correct either. When I check on FrequencyCheck, it shows that the Unlocked version has the $G TDD LTE: B38, B39, B40, B41 bands, but it does not say anything about the 3G TD-SCDMA: B34(2010), B39(1880), which are different then the ones listed for the US unlocked version.
If anyone can clear this up, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance

You don’t find dual SIM for USA. If you find one is outside of USA. The reason is because for USA only Qualcomm 835 is used which works with both standards, GSM and CDMA. If it was built with dual SIM it means one SIM can be used on GSM and one on CDMA and if somebody uses simultaneously let’s say data with CDMA and phone call with GSM sim, will get bad quality on the call portion and eventually on data.

SM-N950FD: India/Singapore
What are the differences in these devices? I live in the U.S., but travel a great deal. I am reading that for the Europe models to work in the U.S., they must first be activated by a 5 minute call using an EU sim card. Why is this? Is this true for the India/Singapore model also?

in Nederland they sell the SM-N950FZKDBTU (Dual-SIM) how its compere to the SM-N950UZKAXAA US mode. i can see they have different chip snapdragon 835 vs exynos 8895. but the NDL has extra Band 4G TDD LTE: B38(2600), B39(1900), B40(2300), B41(2500).
Dual sim in nice but not that impotent as long as i can use any sim and it still works, as the price difference is quite substantial.

It works with TMOBILE …but NO WIFI CALLS… no video calls… cannot be sure about VOLTE cause I do not see the option…. So, you may use it here as a temporary device like I do while traveling in the US but I strongly suggest the US TMOBILE tailored model if you will permanently use a TMOBILE line

I am in Australia and ordered Note8 at ebay , SM-N950FD dual sim. Wondering will it work fine in Australis esp:
1) Samsung pay on Australian issued credit cards?
2) 4G LTE ?
3) Any difference for Australian use when compared to Australian model SM-N950FZKAXSA
Also, is there a difference between a native 256 GB hard drive in phone versus 64GB native + 256 GB microsd card in terms of performance?
