Samsung Focus 2 Review

Updated on Jul 24, 2013 by Guest Authors

Focus was undoubtedly a hit among the customers and now Samsung introduces Focus 2. The improved design, the faster CPU and the fast LTE connectivity are just few of the many things in which Focus 2 can be said to have an upper hand when compared to Focus. So has focus 2 been able to live up to the expectations? Read on to find the answer.

The package in which you will get the phone will contain (other than the phone) Quick start guide, wall charger, Safety and warranty guide, microUSB cable and Stereo Headphone.

Design of Samsung Focus 2

The phone has a sleek and appealing design which is sure to be a treat for the eyes of the user. When it comes to design, Samsung Focus 2 follows the design principles of previous Samsung mobiles. It has an all plastic body and hence it is pretty lightweight. The curves are rounded and the device has a likeable pristine white paint job. Although the device is sometimes blamed for being slippery and hard to hold, one cannot say that it does not have an amazing design.

The device consists of the famous trio of Windows Phone button which have amazing backlight.  Above the display you will find the earpiece, a VGA camera (front facing), proximity sensors and the ambient light.

Coming to the sides you will find a 3.5mm headset jack, shutter key, volume controls, cancellation mic, micro-USB port and the power button.

Now coming to the rear side of the phone, you will spot the camera, two notches for internal speaker and LED flash.

Display of Samsung Focus 2

The display of the Samsung Focus 2 phone is similar to its predecessor. It sports a 4 inch WVGA (480×800) Super AMOLED display. The device has a 223 ppi pixel density. The high contrast, the great color production, the wide viewing angles definitely make the display of this device a real treat for the user.

Camera of Samsung Focus 2

The Samsung Focus 2 sports a 5 megapixel camera.  Samsung Focus 2 is believed to take mediocre shots. Videos which were shot at 720p minimum were nothing extraordinary. The audio was pretty clear. However the macro shots were not quite clear and the color was somewhat unsaturated. All in all, the camera of Focus 2 fails to reach the standards set by Focus, the camera of which is believed to be amazing.

Battery and battery life

Samsung Focus 2 has awesome battery life owing to the Super AMOLED display which is power-sipping and the 1750mAh battery. The battery is expected to last through 2 full days (nearly) when the device is used moderately and one day when the device is used excessively. The battery life of Samsung Focus 2 is one among the many attractive features which this device has.

The good points of Samsung Focus 2

Samsung Focus 2 has its own set of pros and cons like every device does.

Foe those  who are not willing to spend a great deal on the device you are about to purchase, Samsung Focus 2 is the right choice for you as it is not all that expensive and is loaded with every feature you expect your device to have. The device has a snappy performance which is sure to appeal the user. The Samsung Focus 2 is LTE capable and this can be counted as one of its many good points . Last but not the least, as motioned earlier the device has amazing battery life. This phone is something worth investing in.

The minus points of Samsung Focus 2

We have discussed some good points of the phone. Now let us have a look at its darker side. The device is said to have a pentile display and has not so good viewing angles. Also, Focus 2 is said to be slippery when one holds it in hand. The 6GB user-accessible storage is also one point which can be counted among the ‘cons’ of Focus 2. The camera performance is certainly not all that satisfactory.

Price and availability

The Samsung Focus 2 is available now and is priced at 260 USD.

Conclusion

At some points the phone, Samsung Focus 2 fails to keep up to Focus. If you talk about the camera we will see that the camera in Focus is better than that is used in Samsung Focus 2. This is the only minus point i can see. Now keeping aside the only minus point, I must say that Samsung Focus 2 is definitely worth investing in. Display, design and an amazing battery life are just few of the many good points about Focus 2.

Samsung Focus 2 seems to me an ordinary phone. I could not find anything special here in this phone. But when we look at the price, Samsung Focus 2 looks all good! :)
