Keychron has always been my favorite mechanical keyboard brand. I’ve tested quite a few of their keyboards over the years and I’m quite satisfied with almost all of them. The Keychron K6 HE is not another mechanical keyboard, it is a magnetic switch keyboard and I was excited to see the difference.
Opening the box, I was immediately impressed with the wood accents on the sides, paired with an aluminum frame. The double-shot PBT keycaps in OSA profile feel substantial. Despite being a 65% layout keyboard, it weighs roughly 810 grams; So I can feel the solid build that could last for years. Inside the box, you can find the USB-C cable, dongle, keycaps, and some other tools.

In terms of connectivities, it supports Bluetooth, 2.4 GHz wireless, and wired USB-C, with a polling rate of 1000 Hz available in wired and 2.4 GHz modes. That’s more than enough responsiveness for most gaming and productivity tasks. Bluetooth doesn’t offer the same polling rate but for regular work or casual use, most people can’t see the difference. Battery life is also impressive, reaching up to around 120 hours with the backlight off, that means I just need to recharge it once a month.

The biggest reason to consider this keyboard is the switch technology. The Gateron double-rail magnetic (Hall-Effect) switches allow you to adjust the actuation point anywhere between 0.2 mm and 3.8 mm, giving an uncommon level of precision. This makes it possible to set the keyboard for ultra-sensitive keystrokes or for a more deliberate feel depending on your preference. The pre-lubed switches are smooth, stable, and quieter than traditional tactile or clicky options, so typing is fast but also comfortable for long sessions. The feel of the bottom-out is slightly cushioned, which will appeal to users who don’t like a loud mechanical keyboard.

Stabilizers on larger keys like the spacebar and shift are well tuned and show less rattle than many compact keyboards in this price range. On the software side, the Keychron Launcher app makes it easy to tweak actuation depths, assign dynamic keystrokes based on how far a key is pressed, and even use analog input modes.

However, this is not a perfect keyboard as there are a few limitations. Despite being hot-swappable, the K6 HE only works with Gateron’s own double-rail magnetic switches. So if you prefer a firmer bottom-out, you might may find it less satisfying and difficult to replace the switches.
Overall, the Keychron K6 HE Wireless Magnetic Switch Keyboard is an excellent choice for anyone who wants a compact wireless keyboard that feels premium and looks great in any workspace. It is great for everyday work as well as gaming. You will love the satisfying typing feel, strong wireless performance, and unique design touches that set it apart from other cheap keyboards.
