Review of Facebook Messenger for iPhone

By Emmanuel Banks

Facebook is one of the most popular websites on the web today. The social networking website is one of the best places to keep up with the latest news on friends and family. iPhone users are able to keep up with the latest updates with the Facebook for iPhone application. However, the application isn’t the best social networking site out there. There are countless reviews of people dissatisfied with the application. One of the worst features of the application is the chat feature. It was no surprise Facebook heard the reviews and decided to take action. Now, we have Facebook Messenger for iPhone. Let’s get started by reviewing this great application.

Downloading and Signing In

After downloading and loading up Facebook Messenger for iPhone, you’ll find that using the application after that is relatively easy to do. You are asked to simply enter your Facebook credentials to begin. I don’t recommend registering on the phone if you don’t have an account. You aren’t able to register directly on the application, you are sent to Safari to sign up. Once signed in, all of your conversations seem to load pretty fast. This was great to be able to continue conversations created a week ago and even a month ago. If you want to go straight into settings, that is available at the settings wheel at the top left.

How to Start a Chat

Beginning a chat is relatively easy to do. All you have to do is click the envelope at the top right. Then, click the “to” section and type in the recipient’s name. The application will drop down lists of names relative to what you are typing. In addition, you can let the recipient know where you sent the message by attaching your location. Chats are threaded (pretty much standard for modern chatting layouts today), and each message also shows the sender’s photo and when it was sent.

Chat Features

Facebook Messenger supports both chat and private message. When sending either message, they both have the same features. Facebook Messenger allows you to send messages in both orientations. In addition, you have the ability to add photos to each message.

Conclusion

Facebook Messenger is amazing. This is a very successful application, especially compared to the original Facebook application. The application’s outline is very simple to use, which makes it a favorite for anyone who uses Facebook on the regular basis. The ability to easily attach photos, the free price tag, and support for push notifications make Facebook Messenger an essential application for Facebook users.
