Douni A7 20W Portable Bluetooth Speaker Review – Unbelievably Cheap

By Tuan Do

The market for Bluetooth speakers has grown very fast in the last few years and consumers benefit a lot from it. When more manufacturers join the market, they have to offer high-quality products at lower prices. The Douni A7 proves that you can have a decent Bluetooth speaker for just a few dozens of bucks.

Unboxing & Sound Test

Design & Features

The Douni A7 is obviously not a beautiful speaker as most of the exterior is made of plastic. Having said that, I am really impressed with its build quality. It feels very solid and heavy for its size. Besides, the front and back grilles are made of aluminum.

It also comes with NFC for quick Bluetooth pairing. All the control buttons are placed on top and they will light up when you’re trying to press them in the dark.

The only disadvantage is that the Douni is not dust- or water-resistant, so you should be careful when using it outdoors.

The speaker is powered by a built-in rechargeable dual lithium battery (2 x 2,200 mAh). I can play music for around 10 hours on a single charge.

Audio Quality

I didn’t expect much when testing the speaker since it’s very cheap. I thought that it would have the same mediocre sound as seen on other wireless speakers in the same price range. However, I changed my mind as soon as I start playing music.

The Douni A7 actually sounds really great and I actually prefer this one over some $100 speakers.

The bass is just adequate and most of the low frequencies come from the lower mids. It is not that deep but sounds quite punchy and doesn’t overwhelm other frequency ranges. Therefore, the sound is pretty clear and bright. The mids are also quite present while the highs are well extended, so the whole sound isn’t muddy at all. Moreover, the soundstage is really wide and I couldn’t think it comes from such a portable speaker.

I tested the speaker in different rooms in my apartment and it performed really well. I have a full sound with more bass in smaller rooms while the sound is wide open in larger rooms. It can easily fill the rooms with sound; I can hear just a little distortion when cranking up the volume.

Conclusion

Pros

  • Solid build
  • Impressive sound

Cons

  • Distortion at high volume
  • Not water-resistant

The Douni A7 Bluetooth speaker is a great value. We highly recommend the product if you are looking for a decent wireless speaker at an affordable price.
