Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact G8441 and G8442 Model Number Differences

By Tuan Do

The Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact is the smaller version of the bigger XZ1, however, it still has all the high-end specs of its bigger brother. The phone is powered by Android 8.0 Oreo, Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot,  and a 2700mAh battery.

It also uses the same camera as found on other high-end Sony smartphones, you can find the 19MP Motion Eye Sony sensor with an f/2.0 aperture which is capable of capturing 960fps super slow-motion videos at 720p. This is a very amazing phone that you can hold comfortably in one hand.

There are just a few minor compromises, such as the lower-resolution 720p display, or a plastic body with metal finish (actually, it is constructed from glass fiber weave plastic). However, those won’t affect your experience with the phone.

The Xperia XZ1 Compact was supposed to be released in two model numbers, G8441 and G8442. However, the dual-sim G8442 was discontinued at the last minute and now we have only one model number, the G8441.

If you have any question related to the Sony phone, feel free to leave a comment below.

How can I be sure the Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact will work with my carrier? The specs sound so confusing. I am with Bell Mobility in Canada.
