Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus Model Number SM-N975* Differences

By Tuan Do

Samsung released two versions of the new Note series, which are the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10 Plus. The Note 10 Plus is the higher-specced device and it is better in many aspects, except the $150 difference in price tag.

Samsung Galaxy Note10+ Features

The Galaxy Note10+ is a huge smartphone with an expansive 6.8-inch display, Infinity-O design, and nearly invisible bezels. The screen is not only 0.5″ larger than the Note’s but also has higher pixel density with the quad HD+ resolution (1440 x 3040 pixels). Besides, it features the same triple camera setup on the back with an additional DepthVision camera for 3D scanning, improving autofocus, and true-to-life Bokeh effect.

In terms of specs, the Note 10 Plus is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 or Samsung Exynos 9825 processor, 12GB of RAM, 256GB/512GB of UFS3.0 storage, a microSD slot, and a 4,300mAh battery supporting 45W super-fast charging.

Galaxy Note10+ Model Numbers

Similar to other phones, the Note 10 Plus has many variants and all the model numbers start with SM-N975. The suffix will determine the phone’s color, storage option, processor, carrier, and country/region. We can find some models on the market like SM-N975F, SM-N975F/DS, SM-N975U, SM-N975U1, SM-N975W, SM-N9750/DS, or SM-N975N. Let’s check out all their differences.

Thank you for this post, I really appreciate it.
But I’d like a more concise specification for each model number. I know it’s hectic, but it would save a lot of persons looking for specific features like me, the stress.

If you cannot do this, I need a variant that has the following specifications in order of priority:
    1. 512GB ROM
    2. 4G LTE Band 28 (700 mHz)
    3. Dual SIM
    4. Snapdragon 855
    5. Aura Black
    6. Radio
    7. 5G

I posted this on another site, hopefully either Samsung or Xfinity need to fix: Heads UP! Unlocked Samsung Note 10+/512GB (SM-N975U1) bought from Best Buy will NOT work with Xfinity Mobile. I spent $1300ish for the phone and simple case at BB. Drove over to Xfinity to have them activate with their SIM. Nothing, NADA, does not work through several attempts/time.
The good thing? Xfinity will be offering the same phone (that works on their service) and give you a $250.00 cash card. The full model number of the non-working with Note 10+: SM-N975UZKEXAA. The phone was able to read the SIM, did it’s ‘update’ reboots and … nothing. There was a high level tech there from Denver that day and as soon as he heard Note 10+, he said “ahh, the N975…is it the U? Yeah, that particular Note 10+ will not work yet”.

HAHAHAH……that tect doesnt know what he’s talking about…I think they ripped you off…. i have the n975u but converted it to n975u1 and installed comcast firmware and it works just fine….my sim is verizon….comcast is using verizon’s network antenna…it works the same. Its just that if you sign with xfinity, then its cheaper. But im with verizon for more than 15 years so im not switching. The n975U/n975u1 UNLOCKED are the special ones that can work with any other carriers. The U stands for UNITED STATES MODEL. So its compatible with any carrier in the UNITED STATES. They are the same Model and you can change the firmware to whatever U’s you like.

      HI Daniel
I just ordered SM-N9750 (Does not have “DS” letters but is a dual sim as it has hybrid tray for SD card/ second sim). It is working very smoothly, apps and websites loaded very fast through the OS/ bigger RAM and overall excellent experience. I wanted to get this 9750 model over India model 975/DS as it had extra band 12, which T-mobile uses, but lacks 66 & 71. The 975/DS model lacks band 12, 71 but has 66. Also I heard band 71 was more “performing” band for T-mobile than band 66.
This morning, I did a speed test on 9750 vs t-mobile issued S9 plus (has 66 & 71) using two different T-mobile SIM (2 separate lines), inserted in phones one by one. Results were astonishing. While I got a max of 3 mbps down (4G displayed) on 9750, I got 27 mbps down on S9 plus. At a different location, I got max 6 mbps download speed on 9750. Also on 9750, the AT&T will work on 3G only.
So choose carefully! Dual sim is very helpful for me and since mostly I am at my home or office where I have wi-fi, it is fine. I travel once a week, the slower speed is still okay for me for my official emails, tethering to laptop for official sites and apps (I hardly watch any video while traveling, besides T-mobile internet su*ks big time at crowded places like airports) – so this is okay with me, but a better mobile data speed would have helped. It really depends on what your priorities are! (Unfortunately there is no FM radio on 9750 and no dual sim option on T-Mobile/ USA unlocked phone models)

Hello InnovativeDoc, Has your Note 10+ (SM-N9750) T-Mobile Mobile Speed improved at all since last August? What is the Full Model Number of the handset you purchased? Just to clarify, which Exynos Models will work on the T-Mobile US Network? What are the differences between the Exynos T-Mobile compatible models, if any? Do you use a Custom ROM on your Note 10+? If so, are you able to share your experience? Thanks so much for your time and help.

… also to add that some models may have FM radio in hardware, you can download Next radio app to see if your phone has one or goto their website….9750 did not, despite some websites claiming it did have FM radio in hardware…

    • RockDoc says

      Jan 15, 2020 at 12:29 am

There is supposedly no 5G dual sim version – the excuse they’re claiming is battery life. Dual SIM is much harder battery with switching, and with 5G still being very early and rare, when a phone does find 5G there will be more switching and weaker 5G – therefore worse for the battery. Adding dual SIM to that would make it even worse. That’s what they claim anyway – I picked up a 5G 10+ in North America is SM-N975W – same at the first one listed, but with 5G band available…

I purchased a dual sim tray for my Samsung Note 10+ (model SM-N975U) Verizon but only the first sim works. Do you happen to know what is preventing the dual sim capability. Is the restriction because it’s not unlocked? If I were to root the phone would I then be able to use both sims or is it the actual hardware? Both sims I installed are Verizon.

I found this phone with a broken screen, I want it to transfer to my carrier which is Verizon but before I put money into it I want to see if I can use it with Verizon. I searched up the Imei and I found the sm-n975u does that mean it’s unlocked and I can change it to Verizon
