Nitecore EC4GT Limited Edition LED Flashlight Review – The Most Powerful Flashlight?

Updated on Sep 22, 2016 by Tuan Do

I’ve used dozens of flashlights and all of them are packed with a lot of features. Therefore, I’m quite surprised when I received a dedicated flashlight with no extra feature but it is priced much higher than my previous products.

Let’s check out the Nitecore EC4GT Limited Edition LED Flashlight.

Unboxing

Features & Performance

Surprisingly, the expensive Nitecore flashlight only functions as a traditional flashlight. There are no additional features like backup battery, radio or hand crank. It even doesn’t come with a built-in rechargeable battery. There are no batteries inside the box, so you will need to buy two 18650 batteries or four CR123A batteries.

There are no batteries inside the box, so you will need to buy two 18650 batteries or four CR123A batteries. This is a little inconvenient because the batteries are not as common as AA batteries. I also prefer a rechargeable battery inside the flashlight so I can recharge it easily with a USB cable, but that’s not the case here.

They use the 18650 batteries because the voltage output is more than twice the output of the most common AA batteries. Therefore, you can see that the flashlight can produce a brighter light than any other flashlight with AA batteries. The maximum output is 1,000 lumens and it can produce up to 1,500 ft throw in the brightest mode. You can use the button on the side to change between 5 different levels of brightness or change to special modes like SOS, beacon or strobe.

The Turbo mode is the brightest one but it will also kill the battery faster. You can only use the flashlight for less than 2 hours in this mode while it is 380 hours for the ultra-low mode.

I’m also quite impressed with build quality of the product. It features a unibody die-cast construction which is IPX8 waterproof rated. It can stand firmly on the bottom or you can also attach it to a tripod. Inside the box, you can find some more accessories like the lanyard and a holster.

Overall, the Nitecore EC4GT is among the brightest LED flashlights on the market. It is suitable for anyone looking for a powerful lighting for outdoor sports, hunting, or photography.
