MEEPO Flow Electric Skateboard Review – A Beginner’s Experience

By Tuan Do

If you are a professional skateboarder, you shouldn’t expect much from this review because I had zero skateboarding experience before trying the MEEPO Flow. I had no idea how to stand on a board, balance, push, or turn. So when this electric skateboard arrived, I was not 100% sure if I could really test it.

Disclosure: We received the skateboard as a courtesy for review purposes. However, the review is intended to provide honest, unbiased insights about the product, based on personal experiences and observations.

My main goal with the Flow was simple: I needed a compact, portable form of transportation. I often used an electric scooter for short errands or quick rides to nearby places. It’s convenient and portable enough to bring on public transit, and easy to toss into my car. But the MEEPO Flow is even more compact. I was immediately impressed with its design after taking it out of the box. It looks just slightly larger than a regular skateboard, so this could actually be easier to bring around than my scooter; Moreover, there is no folding mechanisms, no long handlebar, no awkward shape. All you need to do is grab it and go. The Flow is something I can easily carry with one hand, bring on a bus, store in my car, or take into elevator without anyone feeling annoyed. This alone makes me far more likely to use it regularly.

As I’ve never ridden a skateboard before, I had to look up a few short videos to understand the basic stance, balance, and how carving works. That made a huge difference as I know what I should do after stepping on the Flow. I expected it to feel unstable or intimidating, but surprisingly, the learning curve was much easier. Within a few minutes, I was comfortable just standing on it. And after an hour, I was confidently riding around, turning, accelerating, and braking.

The Flow is so approachable, thanks to the remote control. As a complete beginner, having all the power and braking controlled by my thumb made everything feel easy. Pushing the wheel control forward gradually increases speed, and pulling it backward activates the brake. There was no need to learn how to kick push or foot brake right away, which would have been overwhelming for someone like me. Therefore, I could concentrate on balance and steering while letting the remote handle the acceleration and stopping.

Turning or carving was the only part that took some practice. Since the board relies on shifting weight from toes to heels, I had to learn how to lean properly to make smooth turns. In the beginning, I tended to overthink it, which made my turns jerky and uncertain. But after around an hour of riding, something clicked. I no longer had to force the turn and simply let my body lean naturally, and the board followed effortlessly.

I wasn’t expecting the Flow to be more enjoyable than my electric scooter, but it is a lot of fun. There’s something more engaging and free about riding a skateboard. The lower stance makes you feel more connected to the ground. The way you shift your weight to navigate turns feels smoother and more dynamic than steering a scooter. And the ride itself just feels more energetic.

In terms of performance, the Flow is quite powerful for such a compact board. It is equipped with dual 2519-watt motor and as a beginner, it helps me handle inclines with ease. I could climb them comfortably without losing too much speed, which made it much more practical for my area.

Another surprise is how stable the board feels. It weighs over 24 lbs and doesn’t feel flimsy or shaky. Once I got the hang of balancing, I felt very secure standing on it, even at speeds that used to intimidate me. In fact, I appreciated that I could start slow and gradually increase speed at my own pace.

Overall, the MEEPO Flow is among the favorite techs I’ve reviewed this year. It is not as intimidating as I expected and its compact design makes it a nice mean of transportation for short trips. If you’re a newcomer to electric skateboards and wondering if you can pick it up quickly, the answer is a definite yes. The MEEPO Flow makes the whole experience fun and convenient. It is on sale for $599 on its official at this time.
