Low cost iPhone spotted in pictures

Updated on Oct 6, 2013 by Guest Authors

Pictures of a low cost iPhone surface on a Chinese website showing the back of the device. The images are expected to be real and so far are the best evidence of a low cost iPhone.

For over a while, plenty of rumors were circling around about the Apple working on releasing a low cost iPhone. Some named it iPhone 5S while others said that the current iPhone 5 will be renamed to iPhone 5S while the iPhone 5 name will be given to the cheaper model. From the start, Apple CEO Tim Cook always denied of having a low cost iPhone being introduced in Apple’s mobile line of products but with the changing trend of the market being shifted towards low cost solutions, Apple was rather indirectly forced to take this step.

If we look at the picture closely, we can asses few things. First is the rounded back of the mobile which reminds us all of the iPhone 3GS back surface being similar to the one shown in the pictures. Then there are slots for 3.5mm jack and lightning port along with the speaker.

Since it would be a low cost iPhone, the main question here is which material Apple will prefer for it. The picture do show a frame like border on all the sides of the device which can be of metal while the back surface be of plastic.

According to the website, the guy who leaked the images, said that the device does not look cheap at all and feels good in hands. The low cost iPhone might have cheap material but it still looks great.

And as far as the rest of the specs are concerned, we still haven’t heard anything about them. Nor the pricing details and the expected date of announcement were given out except for the pictures. But if we see the previous rumors about different Apple devices, we can see a pattern that normally the device gets announced by Apple after 2-4 months of rumors. So if we follow that, then we are expecting this low cost iPhone to arrive anywhere around August or September.
