By Tuan Do

The new LG V20 has been officially available across the U.S. and many other countries. The V20 is the new flagship by LG and it is expected to continue the success of its predecessor, the LG V10.

The V20 runs Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, and it is a powerful device with Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, a MicroSD slot, 5.7-inch IPS Quantum Display with Gorilla Glass 4, and 3,200mAh battery. However, this is not just another phablet with capable hardware. It is considered as a multimedia beast with new features like Hi-Fi Quad DAC, HD Audio Recorder, Steady Record 2.0, and wide-angle lenses.

Which model numbers will have unlocked bootloader? To date LG has not unlocked bootloader in LG G4 H818N, Indian version, though it has done so in U.S. and European versions. I love LG phones but hesitating due to this.

The H990ds dual sim allows the usage of 2 sim cards and a microsd card, just like the V10 dual sim version.

Hey Patrick, I am just about to buy the same myself – f800. Did yours work OK ?
      Please keep us posted.

As a side note. Kinda amazing in this day and age you have to jump through hoops to give a company £500+
It’s even more amazing that they have done the hard part – building a good phone.

      Anyway, let us know

I was going to buy 990ds model from ebay but looking at this site it seems like it won’t work on T-Mobile. please correct me if i’m wrong. I have G2 from verizon using it on T-Mobile network but I have weak signal and lot of call drops not sure if this due to network or my phone

    • Rama says

      Dec 7, 2016 at 6:58 am

To find out it the 990ds model works well on T-Mobile network, you need to find out which LTE band(s) does T-Mobile use. If the handset does not have the band(s) support, then there is no way you can use the phone on the network. Unless using a mod, which is available for certain V10 models (H961N or H962), which the bands can be opened using certain tools (does require rooting). But even so, this is not ideal, as you will have to enter the secret menu (*#546368#*961 (or) 962#) and change the Network Mode of each sim card and RAT selection, after each reboot.

The best LG v20 model is the LG v20 h990n for the UK. Its had a series of updates and works very well. It also comes with a uk lg plug. Its dual sim that works great . You can put a micro sd card in as well. Its a little more expensive on average but is worth it. The dac is incredible with a goid set of can ie beyer dynamics 250 ohms

        Jul 2, 2018 at 6:05 pm

The dual sim n model is a bad option. Its only cat 6. & has half download & upload spreads than the ds. Model.
& the ds model is the international version, with the most band options, so should be ok in the uk.

    Hi,

I have V20 H990ds. It got some water in it and now alot of its internal parts are not working, specifically the speakers and mics.
The question: Can I take parts from another V20 model to replace the damaged audio parts? is the H918 compatible with the H990ds?

    Thank you,
    Really appreciate your help

    • Andrej Sierakowski says

      Jan 16, 2019 at 7:29 pm

      Hasan,

Find a hair dryer and dry the device — electrical engineers best friend.

If you have any electronic device, including the phone to which you refer, that is exposed to water; the first action to recover functionality is to
remove the back cover, battery and wipe away any visible water on the phone parts with a cloth and then use a hair dryer to blow hot air at an
inch distance from the phone parts (to avoid melting plastic parts) over all parts of the device to remove any water that remains until all moisture
has evaporated. You will need to apply the dryer so that the entire phone is warm to just barely hot to the touch so that any water that has been taken in by the phones adjacent internal parts through capillary action (siphoning action) evaporates.

      regards,

      Andrej
