Apple launched the iPhone 17 Pro in September 2025, marking one of the most significant design overhauls in years. The device features a heat-forged aluminum unibody along with a redesigned Camera Plateau, a sleek horizontal bar that replaces the traditional square bump. With screen size of 6.3 inches, the Super Retina XDR OLED display now pushes brightness up to 3,000 nits while maintaining smooth 120Hz ProMotion refresh rates.

Powering the iPhone 17 Pro is the new A19 Pro chip, built on a 3nm process with up to 40% better sustained performance. Apple also introduced vapor-chamber cooling for the first time on an iPhone, allowing the device to handle intensive apps and gaming without throttling. On the camera side, the triple 48MP Pro Fusion system brings Apple’s longest telephoto lens with up to 8x optical zoom. Notably, it is paired with smarter computational photography and an upgraded 18MP Center Stage front camera.
The iPhone 17 Pro features 4 separate model numbers – A3256, A3522, A3523, and A3524 – each engineered for specific regions. Choosing the right model number is important to get optimal network performance and compatibility. Let’s check out their differences in the table below along with all part numbers for each model.
iPhone 17 Pro A3256
Description | The A3256 is designated for the United States and Puerto Rico. This is considered the most advanced and feature-rich variant as it is the only model featuring mmWave 5G technology. Therefore, there is the dedicated glass cutout on top. Besides, the A3256 is an eSIM-only device and since there is no physical SIM tray, it has the largest battery capacity among all iPhone 17 Pro models. |

iPhone 17 Pro A3523
Description | The A3523 is the global variant as it serves the widest range of countries including those in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, India, Singapore, and South Korea. It is not eSIM-only but instead supports both a physical nano-SIM card and eSIM functionality. Therefore, this model has a slightly smaller battery capacity compared to the eSIM-only variants. It also lacks mmWave support, as this high-frequency technology has limited deployment around the world.

iPhone 17 Pro A3524
Description | The iPhone A3524 is a unique variant designed specifically for the Chinese mainland. This model contradicts Apple’s broader global strategy as it is configured with a dual physical nano-SIM card tray and has no eSIM functionality. The retention of a physical SIM tray results in a smaller battery capacity. Due to local restrictions, features like Apple Intelligence, FaceTime Audio, and satellite SOS are unavailable.
