Hbada X7 Ergonomic Chair Review: Advanced Comfort with a Few Trade-Offs

By Tuan Do

The Hbada X7 Ergonomic Chair is the most advanced office chairs I’ve ever used, and after spending a good amount of time with it, it delivers a very different experience compared to typical ergonomic chairs. It is not perfect but it has some great features that make me want to stick with it.

Disclosure: We received the chair as a courtesy for review purposes. However, the review is intended to provide honest, unbiased insights about the product, based on personal experiences and observations.

The product came in 2 packages: one for the chair and one for the battery pack. Assembling the chair is quite similar to normal ergonomic chair but it took me a bit longer due to some extra parts.

The first thing that really stood out to me is the lumbar support system. This isn’t just a standard adjustable support as it comes with a built-in massage function that actually makes a noticeable difference during long work sessions. There are days when I’m stuck at my desk for hours without the chance to step away, and that’s when this feature really shines. The 2-core massage system isn’t overly aggressive, but it’s enough to keep my lower back from feeling stiff or fatigued. It adds a layer of active comfort that I didn’t realize I needed until I had it.

Even more impressive is the Fully Automated Smart Lumbar Tracking. This is where the chair starts to feel truly smart. As I shift positions, like leaning forward, sitting upright, or reclining, the lumbar support adjusts automatically to maintain consistent contact with my back. I don’t have to think about tweaking knobs or levers constantly; it just adapts in real time. In practice, this works surprisingly well and contributes to a more natural sitting experience. It’s one of those features that, once you get used to it, makes traditional chairs feel outdated.

However, that advanced functionality comes with a trade-off: battery life. The chair includes a rechargeable battery pack, and with regular use of the smart lumbar tracking, I find myself needing to charge it roughly every 1-2 weeks. It’s not terrible, but it’s definitely something to keep in mind, especially if you’re not used to “charging” your chair. The good news is that you can extend the battery life by disabling the smart tracking and adjusting the lumbar support manually. I’ve done that occasionally when I know I won’t need the automation, and it helps stretch the time between charges.

In terms of comfort, the mesh seat is another great feature. It’s breathable, supportive, and suitable for long hours of sitting. The ventilation built into the seat is a subtle but valuable feature, especially during warmer days or in rooms without strong air circulation. Unlike traditional foam cushions that can trap heat, this design keeps things cool and comfortable over time. That said, the seat isn’t perfect. I’ve noticed that the seat depth is a bit short for me. At times, it feels like about one-third of my thighs aren’t fully supported, which can become noticeable during extended use. It doesn’t ruin the experience, but it’s definitely a design limitation.

All controls of the chair can be adjusted with the level on the right side and a remote control pulled out from the left. You can turn on/off the smart lumbar system, adjust massaging speed, turn on heating in this area, or turn on ventilating system under your seat.

The adjustability of the chair is another strong point. Nearly every component can be fine-tuned—the backrest recline, headrest, lumbar position, and armrests. This makes it easy to dial in a comfortable setup for different scenarios, whether I’m working, relaxing, or taking a break. One feature I particularly enjoy is the retractable leg rest. It slides out quickly and smoothly, and when combined with the reclining function, I can easily take a quick nap. I can adjust the lumbar and neck support to have the most comfortable position. This is a feature I didn’t think I’d use much, but it’s become one of my favorites.

That said, not all adjustable components are equally well executed. The armrests, while highly adjustable, tend to move out of position more often than I’d like. They feel a bit too flexible, which becomes an issue when I’m moving the chair. I’ve developed a habit of pushing chairs by the armrests, but with this one, that’s not a good idea. The armrests shift too easily and don’t feel sturdy enough for that kind of use. It’s a small annoyance, but one that comes up regularly in day-to-day use.

Another practical drawback is the weight of the chair. It’s noticeably heavy, and moving it around, especially on carpet, is not easy. With lighter chairs, I never really thought twice about repositioning them, but with the X7, it requires more effort. This might not be a big deal if you don’t move your chair often, but in my case, it’s something I notice frequently.

On the durability and design side, one feature I really appreciate is the magnetic charging connection. I’ve accidentally tripped over the charging cable a few times, and instead of damaging the port or pulling the chair, the connector detaches cleanly. It’s a small but thoughtful detail that adds to the overall user experience and prevents unnecessary wear and tear.

Overall, the Hbada X7 is a great ergonomic chair that excels in comfort. The smart lumbar tracking and massage system make long sitting sessions more comfortable, while the breathable mesh and extensive adjustability make it versatile for different uses. On the other hand, its bulky design, somewhat short seat depth, and slightly unstable armrests remind me that it’s not perfect. For me, despite its flaws, it still stands out as one of the most impressive and comfortable chairs I’ve ever used.
