Google announces HP Chromebook 11 for $279

Updated on Oct 8, 2013 by Guest Authors

Google announced their new HP Chromebook 11 today and this time, it seems like Google is really making a move towards pushing the Chromebook into the mainstream industry.

Starting from $279, HP Chromebook 11 inherits many features from the expensive Chromebook Pixel. Not only does the HP Chromebook 11 look sleek and good, it does provide you a good alternative to a standard netbook.

HP Chromebook 11 Specifications

HP Chromebook 11, with its great looks, also have specs that a budget priced notebook should have. Following is a detailed list of the specs of the HP Chromebook 11

  • 11.6 inch IPS screen
  • 1366 x 768 pixel resolution with 16:9 aspect ratio
  • Exynos 5250 dual core processor
  • 2GB DDR3 RAM
  • 16GB SSD
  • 2x USB 2.0, micro SIM for 3G/4G network and micro USB slot for charging
  • 30Wh battery with up to 6 hours of battery backup
  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, VGA Webcam, SlimPort video out

Starting from screen, well it’s a great improvement over the previous chromebooks that we have now gotten the IPS panel display on the HP Chromebook 11. The dual core Exynos processor from Samsung is a standard processor that is being used in many of the today’s smartphones and tablets.

16GB SSD storage might feel a little bit low for people who like to store movies or songs. But do keep this in mind that the Chrome OS is a cloud based system and with the purchase of every HP Chromebook 11, the user also gets 100GB storage space on Google Drive for 2 years, a 60-day free trial of Google Play Music and 12 free sessions of GoGo in flight internet

The point to argue here is that, what this particular HP Chromebook 11 offers in $279 that a common Windows laptop doesn’t. Even though Windows laptops support more software and are a bit more powerful in running different applications, but Chromebooks have one feature that might put it above the other Windows powered netbooks. Since the Chromebooks operate on cloud storage, so it’s easy to move your data across different locations without storing them separately on a cloud. Plus the amount of battery consumed on a standard netbook is huge compared to the Chromebooks and that is also another reason to buy the HP Chromebook 11.
