Sony’s Android 4.2 screenshots leaked

Updated on Oct 6, 2013 by Guest Authors

Pictures leaked today shows the Sony’s Android 4.2 version. Sony’s Android 4.2 is expected to come with the Sony expected phablet, the Sony Xperia ZU (Ultra) a.k.a Togari in previous rumors.

Couple of weeks ago, Sony rolled out Jelly Bean 4.1 update for their 2012 devices and many people faced issues regarding the camera app not working and the message displaying “Camera not available”. Sony has been set backwards due to this and majority of the Sony mobile phone users were disappointed at this. But Sony said that they are working for a quick fix for the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean users as well.

The thing that we didn’t know till now, is that Sony is also working on Android 4.2. Recent screenshots shows various aspects of the UI of the Android 4.2 The basic looks of the UI resembles a lot from the stock Android, maybe because Sony tends to make icons a little bit simpler and stock related. But the images do provide a clear view of how the new Android 4.2 looks like for Sony.

Comparing with the Xperia Z UI

When compared with the current Xperia Z UI, both looked almost the same except for few minor changes that are in functionality rather than in looks. The App drawer has some tweaks into it that basically differentiate it from that of Xperia Z views.

The keyboard is also changed in the new Android 4.2 and many users have claimed that it looks exactly the same as the Samsungs keyboard. But this could not be possible since it can literally start a patent war. But still it is good to see that they have increase the size of the spacebar that was previously very small and people with bigger thumbs had problems accessing it.

The only thing that was not present in the UI screenshots is the lock screen of Sony. So we still have to see if there are any changes to the Sony’s 3D effected lock screen widget or they use the stock Android lock screen. But we will see it soon enough at the Xperia ZU official announcement event that is scheduled for July.
