Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor is the latest mobile processor and is manufactured using the advanced 4-nanometer process technology. The processor was unveiled in November 2022 and boasts of several enhancements over its predecessor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, including better performance, improved power efficiency, and enhanced connectivity.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Features

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor features a new octa-core CPU design with a single Cortex-X3 core clocked at up to 3.2 GHz, three Cortex-A715 cores clocked at up to 2.8 GHz, and four Cortex-A510 cores clocked at up to 2.0 GHz. It also boasts a new Adreno 740 GPU that is up to 30% faster than the Adreno 730 GPU in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The processor features a new Spectra ISP that can process photos and videos up to 200MP and 8K resolution, a new Snapdragon X70 5G modem that supports faster 5G speeds, and a new Snapdragon Sound technology that offers high-quality audio playback over Bluetooth. The processor also features a new Snapdragon AI Engine that offers improved AI performance for tasks such as image recognition, natural language processing, and voice assistant.

Phones with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor offer several benefits, including faster performance, better battery life, improved connectivity, better camera performance, and improved AI performance. The processor’s faster performance allows for faster app launch times, smoother gaming, and better overall performance. The Xiaomi 13 features a 6.1-inch AMOLED display, while the Xiaomi 13 Pro and 13 Ultra have larger 6.67-inch AMOLED displays with 120Hz refresh rates. The Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro come with a triple-camera setup, while the Xiaomi 13 Ultra has a quad-camera setup with a primary 1-inch sensor and variable aperture (f/1.9 – f/4.0). The Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro come with 8GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of storage, while the Xiaomi 13 Ultra has 12GB of RAM and 256GB/512GB of storage. Additionally, all three devices come with fast charging capabilities, 5G connectivity, and run on MIUI 13, which is based on Android 12.

OnePlus 11

The OnePlus 11 is another smartphone that will use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. OnePlus has always been known for delivering high-performance devices at an affordable price, and the OnePlus 11 continues that trend. The device features a 6.7-inch 120Hz 1440 x 3216 fluid AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a triple-camera setup with a 50MP f/1.8 IMX890 main sensor, and a large 5,000mAh battery with 100W charging.

The OPPO Find X6 Pro features a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a triple-camera setup with a 50MP primary camera, and up to 12GB of RAM. The device also comes with a large 4,500mAh battery with fast charging capabilities and support for 5G connectivity. It runs on ColorOS 12, which is based on Android 12 and offers several customizations and features.

nubia REDMAGIC 8 Pro

The nubia REDMAGIC 8 Pro is a gaming smartphone with a 6.65-inch AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, a powerful Adreno 730 GPU, and up to 16GB of RAM. The device also comes with active cooling technology, which helps to keep the device cool during intense gaming sessions. Additionally, the nubia REDMAGIC 8 Pro has a 64MP primary camera, a 4,500mAh battery, and support for 5G connectivity.

Iqoo 11

The Iqoo 11 sports a 6.62-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a triple-camera setup with a 50MP primary camera, and up to 12GB of RAM. The device also comes with a large 4,000mAh battery with fast charging capabilities and support for 5G connectivity. Additionally, it runs on Iqoo UI 2.0, which is based on Android 11.

vivo X90 Pro Plus

The vivo X90 Pro Plus is a premium smartphone that uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. It features a 6.56-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a quad-camera setup with a 50MP primary camera, and up to 12GB of RAM. The device also comes with a large 4,500mAh battery with fast charging capabilities and support for 5G connectivity. Additionally, it runs on Funtouch OS 12 based on Android 12.

Nubia Z50

The Nubia Z50 is probably the cheapest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 on the market. The cheapest variant has quite impressive specs with 8GB of RAM, 128GB storage, a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with 144Hz refresh rate, a 35mm 64MP main camera and a 50MP ultra-wide camera.

Vivo X Fold 2

The new foldable phone from Vivo comes with an 8.03-inch E6 LTPO 4.0 AMOLED display and a 6.53-inch E6 AMOLED external display; Both support 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+. The triple camera setup includes a 50MP Sony IMX866v sensor, an ultrawide 12MP Sony IMX663 sensor, and a 2X telephoto camera with 12MP Sony IMX663 sensor.

Motorola Edge 40 Pro

The Edge 40 Pro was officially launched in April 2023. It features super-fast 125W charging, a large sensor 50MP main camera, a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel with 165Hz refresh rate, an under-display fingerprint scanner, and a 4,600mAh battery.
