What are the Next Advancements in Medical Technology?

Updated on May 17, 2021 by Guest Authors

In this modern era, we are seeing advancement after advancement come our way. We are entering a new era of medical discoveries, and it is important to celebrate each and every one of them. Let’s take a look at some of the big advancements in medical technology happening right now.

Bionics

Bionic limbs are becoming more sophisticated than ever before. The technology is now able to make sophisticated limbs that are changing the lives of many who invest in them. What’s more, the advent of 3D printing has made leap forwards in this sector become even cheaper and easier to manage. Many people who could not afford bionic limbs are now able to get high-quality pieces for prices they can manage.

This is one of the best sectors to be involved in at the moment. Top investors like Tej Kohli and Ananda Impact Ventures are helping to fund some of the developments being made in this industry. These pieces are becoming lighter and easier for everyone to use, and the help given by investors could help to fund some of the main advancements made in this sector in the future.

Artificial Organs

We are getting closer and closer to developing artificial organs for the mass market. A key part of this could again be to do with 3D printing. This would be a cheap and quick way to generate the items needed for such a venture.

The major advantage of moving towards artificial organs is that it would relieve some of the pressures felt by the transplant system at the moment. Organs could also be manufactured to be closer to the original, instead of trying to find a matching one that would best fit the patient’s body. From new skin grafts to artificial pancreases grown inside the patient’s body, artificial organs look set to completely transform this part of patient care.

Robotic Surgeons

While some were concerned that these would one day eliminate human surgeons, it is actually more likely that robotic surgeons will only be used in a support capacity. However, where their true benefit lies is in their precision. They can be used to massively improve the accuracy and precision of a complex medical procedure.

They also have the capacity for some augmented reality features. This means that we might one day be able to quickly deliver surgeons real-time data about their patients in the middle of the operation in a manner that is non-distracting and easy for them to absorb. Being able to deliver such data would be massive, and could make all the difference in the operating theatre. With so many advancements arriving in the medical field, it can be difficult to know where to begin. Take a look at some of the exciting new discoveries that are taking place in this field each and every day. You never know which one could be the one to completely transform medicine as we know it, bringing us forward into the next stages of healthcare.
