By Tuan Do

The new LG V20 has been officially available across the U.S. and many other countries. The V20 is the new flagship by LG and it is expected to continue the success of its predecessor, the LG V10.

The V20 runs Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, and it is a powerful device with Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, a MicroSD slot, 5.7-inch IPS Quantum Display with Gorilla Glass 4, and 3,200mAh battery. However, this is not just another phablet with capable hardware. It is considered as a multimedia beast with new features like Hi-Fi Quad DAC, HD Audio Recorder, Steady Record 2.0, and wide-angle lenses.

No, they are not!!! I bought one from ebay, the picture there shows B&O but I received a default variant of the LG V20 H990DS. So take care, better ask before than believing some pics…

    This list is incomplete/incorrect.
The US996 model has 2 variants:

US996.UCL — US Celluar model as listed
US996.USA — Factory unlocked NO carrier for the US open market , NOT listed

The second US996.USA model can be BOOTLOADER unlocked, officially, with software from LG itself.

I believe it was included in article’s list, just not labeled as you did. It listed two: 1) Us Cellular – US which is the US996.UCL version and 2) Factory Unlocked – US which I believe is the US996.USA version. I can’t speak for the author, but that’s how I interpreted his list. Note, I’ve been searching for the US996.USA for a few weeks now, and that version new is almost non-existent. There’s a bunch of used and refurbished out there, but not new.

Hi. Hopefully you can help me out. I’ve been searching for a true LGv20 us 996 unlocked phone for a few weeks now. (Many ebay and amazon advertisers claim they have one, but in reality it is one of the branded phones, H910, H918, etc.) I’ve run across the us 996.ucl which is the US Cellular version and the us 996.USA which is the true unbranded factory unlocked phone. Just ran across a us 996.ausatn. Can you tell me anything about it? This is part of the seller’s reply to my email regarding the phone: ” With regard to the version, this is LGUS996.AUSATN. For the network, this can be used with another carrier at least on GSM networks in the US. ” So, I am assuming, based on the wording, that this model is originally intended for outside the US? And if so, can you find out which frequencies/bands this phone can use? Thanks in advance.

    Saludos.

Have eBay unlocked TMobile v20. On cricket (At&t). Works fine. Still turns on with tmo logo. Has tmo apps that can’t be removed. When 1st started without cricket sim, tmo updated it from 7.0 to Android 8.0. Unusual to say the least. No updates since installing Cricket sim. Everything works fine. May do factory reset, remove Cricket and see if tmo updates to 9.0 when l do new setup. Great phone. Would have preferred a true factory unlocked, but don’t think lg offered one in us.
